Finally, in terms of blades, i have found that the premium blades work the best for me and seem to last longer. Gently slide the blade housing to the middle of the machine. I checked that the blade was installed properly, bought a new auto blade and mat, checked settings, checked if strip was damaged….it all came down to updated firmware. Beyond frustrated!
Thanks for the additional info Keila. I've tried the screw cap on the machine, and the separate one. While the white cap should be secure, please refrain from over tightening the cap as this can crack the housing and prevent further proper blade adjustment. So I’ve got a quick time-saving tip today.

If you view a design in Point Editing mode, you will see a series of tiny grey squares. If your firmware is not up-to-date, you may experience cutting issues. Click on the design to select it then look in the Send panel (Silhouette Studio V4) and be sure the design is set to “Cut” or “Cut Edge”.
Are you cutting a Print & Cut design? If it does not match the settings you have selected in the Send Panel, then it is not automatically adjusting as it should.
I believe the software developers are also working on if you are cutting by line, fill or layer, having it not have to adjust between rows with the same blade number. It’s hard to say without looking at your machine, but the first thing I would check is that the blade is installed correctly and fully locked down. Can someone please tell me which way the blade needs to be facing?? I did remove the existing blade open it up and cleaned it out but nothing was obviously wrong with it.
