The park is lovely, with woodland areas, lots of open grass and a few scattered mature trees so plenty of good picnic spots with shade, and there's a reasonable sized (free) car park by the cafe too, though there's also off-road parking by the entrance on the SW side of the park, just 200 yards away on a tarmac path through the trees. Roll on the years and what an absolute delight to go back especially these days. The cafe is great - friendly, has a lovely range of homemade cakes and goodies as well as coffees and teas, ice creams etc - and there's a good number of well-spaced picnic tables on the part-grassed / part-tarmac'd area outside.
