I liked the hostel, its clean, cheap and well situated. Finally, while many miss out on the offseason on account of the bad weather (which is often wet and rainy), winter in Basel will guarantee lower hotel rates and generally cheaper prices! Also it would be wise to have 1+ chairs in a 4-bed room. Check prices and availability here.
I really didn’t want to ruin the evening so I apologied and later ordered water which I had no need for. We appreciate it because it helps us to do improvements. Dear Penny, it was a pleasure to have you here, thank you so much for taking time to rate us! It’s one of the cheapest spots that is not a hostel in Basel. I’ve wanted to visit Switzerland for a while but the cost of doing so had put me off booking a trip until the end of last year, when I came across some cheap flights to Basel (£50 return from Manchester) and managed to find a reasonably priced hotel. A fan of all things France related, she runs solosophie.com when she's not chasing after the next sunset shot or consuming her weight in sweet food. Already at the Groot Melkhuis and at Blauwe Theehuis, they are curiously absent. Busy though, and Leidseplein is quite touristy.
Not bad for free! Staff were really helpful and kind.
Basel’s market place is dominated by the impressive Town Hall, known as Rathaus. I have to say that when I planned my trip to Basel, seeing street art did not spring to mind.
Ssome tourists obviously visit the Netherlands Film Institute or whatever it is called at the very tip of Vondel Park - but even then I bet most of those patrons are Dutch not foreign tourists. That you got two different information was owing to unfortunate communication in the team and should not have happened. Nomad . The food is really nice and the menu is rather small but with variety. Basel’s Old Town is super pretty, I spent quite a while just wandering the cobbled streets taking photos and just enjoying the views. The portions are pretty big though, so it’s definitely fill you up. The Rathaus dates back some five hundred years and it is now where the meetings of the Cantonal Parliament (Switzerland is divided into Cantons and Basel is in the Canton of Basel-Stadt) now take place. I had a bottle of drink from outside with me so I asked if this was ok to one of the female staff and she said it’s not ideal to drink it but was ok - I fully appreciate the restaurant policy and manners so I asked about it and also didn’t even open the bottle the whole time. After a while one male staff came and asked if I wanted something to drink and without even waiting for a response he made his point about how it is a ‘NO’ to consume something from outside. Visiting South East Asia: Is Independent or Organised Group Travel Better? First visit was with a big group on a weekday and the service speed was not impressive and ended up spending hours.During second visit a small incident with one of the staff just ruined the evening.
8:00 PM. I flew with Easyjet from Manchester but there are quite a few options from around the UK and in Europe. Great location, clean, separate cabins for shower, friendly & helpful staff, good value for price, easy access to rooms and the entire hostel at night (for guests only). http://www.fodors.com/community/euro...ite-things.cfm, http://www.verzetsmuseum.org/museum/...ent_exhibition, http://www.gotoursamsterdam.nl/wp-co...GO_West_en.pdf, http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractio..._Province.html, http://www.nrc.nl/nieuws/2015/05/11/over-toeristen/. I only visited a few places but so this list isn’t exhaustive, but hopefully it’ll be a good start for a weekend break in the city. I’d highly recommend Tibits, a vegetarian restaurant, even if you’re a meat eater. Also it would be wise to have 1+ chairs in a 4-bed room. There are 2 direct trains from Basel to Milan Central (6:30 & 11:00) From Milan, it is only 1 hr ride by Trenord regional train to Varenna in lake Como The content of Solo Traveler and any resources published by Solo Traveler are meant for entertainment and inspiration only.
