ITV is a British free-to-air television network with its headquarters in London.It was launched in 1955 as Independent Television to provide competition to BBC Television, which had been established in 1932. Oddly, BBC research report 1963-50[4] does not mention a start date though it does point out that co-channel interference (presumably from Divis in Northern Ireland, about 180 km to the northwest across the Irish Sea) was "severe".
